Four Clan Kitchen

What we eat everyday

About the Four Clan Kitchen

I started this blog for multiple reasons.  I wanted to do something outside the academic world where I belong during the day.  I also wanted to engage my newly retired mother-in-law, J, in something that she excels at. It is very hard to find common ground with my 13 year old son, I.  I thought if I did something that involved electronics, he would engage.  And, boy did he!  We started on Thanksgiving Day.  He set up the website, took pictures of the food and wrote the initial posts.  We are on a roll now and I hope we continue for many years to come.  It is fun!

Our family is diverse and geographically far-flung.  I have roots in India, my husband, N, has Jewish roots and other heritages.  Good cooks abound in our greater clan and good food is a high priority.  I began this blog also in the hope that many of the good cooks in our greater family here in the U.S and in India would participate in blogging so that we could create a family archive of everyone’s favorite recipes for I’s generation.  I hope this happens.  Will keep you posted.

I love your blog! I am looking forward to seeing the potato and pea recipe in print. I look forward to trying some of these recipes soon. Thanks for sharing some of your culinary secrets! Thanks, Katy

    • Katey,

Thanks for the kind compliments. A recipe for the cabbage and peas will have to wait a couple weeks. I will have to make it again, because I did not measure anything when I made it last time. But you could go with a 1/2 head of cabbage and a couple of peas and use the spices in the gobhi alu. But I will post soon.

Love the pictures… especially of the various ingredients and the food in preparation.
